Mars Globe

Mars, as the Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter measured it: the shell is displaced by the real gridded topography, so Olympus Mons stands up under a fingertip, Valles Marineris and the Hellas basin sink in. The cratered southern highlands and the smooth northern lowlands each get a color, the polar caps a third, and six region names stand in raised relief. It rests leaning at Mars' real 25.19° axial tilt — no stand.

Raised lettering in its own color, wrapped along a southern parallel over Daedalia so it follows the curve of the globe. Letters, numbers, spaces and basic punctuation; long text is shortened to what fits.

How it's made. The outer shell is a 20,000-face sphere whose every vertex is moved by the real MOLA elevation at that point (NASA's public-domain MEGDR grid, 2 pixels per degree), exaggerated about three times so a 100 mm globe carries Olympus Mons as a 0.9 mm rise and Hellas as a 0.3 mm dip you can feel. Faces are colored by the elevation dichotomy that splits Mars — below −2.5 km is lowland — with the residual polar caps in a third color. Two hemisphere shells meet at the equator on a rabbet (lap) joint that Anoor bonds during assembly; the southern shell carries a small flat cut so the globe leans at Mars' real 25.19° obliquity.
