State Plaque

The state, for your wall. Its outline in real terrain relief — the mountains and plains from the same elevation data as our maps, in one color or banded by height. Clean, or detailed down to the rivers, the lakes and the capital. A pin for the hometown. A slim frame carries the name, the year of statehood and the nickname, or your own lines — or leave it off for the land alone. Printed flat, hung with tape or two screws. All fifty states and DC.

One color, or the land banded by height — lowlands, highlands, peaks — each its own color.

We find it on the map and raise a small ring there. Put its name in a line below if you like.

Off, you get the land alone — the shape of the state and nothing else. A flag badge or far-off islands bring the frame back; they need something to sit on.

Leave every line empty and the frame is just a slim rim around the state.

How it's made. The frame, the state and the lettering are made as one fused piece with a color change at each layer. It is made flat and hangs flat: a 2 mm frame cut close to the land with a thin rim, or no frame at all, just the land, 3 mm thick. The back is smooth for mounting tape, or choose two 4 mm screw holes. In terrain relief the state is 3 mm thick and its highest ground another 2.5, 4.5 or 7 mm above that — real elevation, exaggerated so a plain reads as a plain and a range as a range; banded by height, each band is its own color. Detailed plaques use the 1:10m Natural Earth outline; rivers and lakes are a shallow inlay that follows the terrain, the capital a small raised star. Sized to the shape: the preview shows the exact width and height. Clean $13; Detailed or banded $13.
