How they are made
The lettering. Every piece shapes the Arabic with the same engine typesetters use - each letter in its initial, medial, final or isolated form, right to left, every vowel mark in place - from the Amiri face (the Naskh of made Qur'ans) and Noto Kufi (the square hand of carved stone). A person checks every piece before it is made.
The plaque is one fused piece with a color change at each layer: the calligraphy stands 2.5 mm proud of the plate, the border 1.5 mm, the field pattern 0.6 mm - real relief. A keyhole hangs it flush on one screw; a stand is optional. The engraved block is a rounded slab 20 mm thick with the words cut 12 mm into its face. Standing calligraphy has the letters 15 mm deep on a silhouette grown from the words themselves, running into a foot; wall calligraphy the same letters 8 mm deep with two keyholes behind.
The du'a set is ten flat tiles made face-down, the words set 1 mm into the face in a second color, with a tray they stack in. The standard sets: Home (waking up, getting dressed, setting out…) · Business (setting out, opening the shop, a blessing in the business…) · School (before the lesson, for what we learn, before speaking…).
