Wal-bayti al-maʿmūr
And the House frequented,
Was-saqfi al-marfūʿ
And the roof exalted,
Wal-baḥri al-masjūr
And the sea kept filled,
Inna ʿadhāba rabbika lawāqiʿ
Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass;

Famanna Allāhu ʿalaynā wawaqānā ʿadhāba as-samūm
But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire.
Innā kunnā min qablu nadʿūhu innahu huwa al-barru ar-raḥīm
Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful.

Am yaqūlūna taqawwalahu bal lā yuʾminūn

Falyaʾtū biḥadīthin mithlihi in kānū ṣādiqīn
Then let them produce speech the like thereof, if they are truthful.

Am khuliqū min ghayri shayʾin am humu al-khāliqūn
Or were they created out of naught? Or are they the creators?

Am khalaqū as-samāwāti wal-arḍa bal lā yūqinūn
Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they are sure of nothing!

Am lahum sullamun yastamiʿūna fīhi falyaʾti mustamiʿuhum bisulṭānin mubīn

Am ʿindahumu al-ghaybu fahum yaktubūn
Or possess they the Unseen so that they can write (it) down?
Am yurīdūna kaydan falladhīna kafarū humu al-makīdūn
Or seek they to ensnare (the messenger)? But those who disbelieve, they are the ensnared!
Am lahum ilāhun ghayru Allāhi subḥāna Allāhi ʿammā yushrikūn
Or have they any god beside Allah? Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partner (unto Him)!

Fadharhum ḥattā yulāqū yawmahumu alladhī fīhi yuṣʿaqūn
Then let them be (O Muhammad), till they meet their day, in which they will be thunder-stricken,
Yawma lā yughnī ʿanhum kayduhum shayʾan walā hum yunṣarūn
A day in which their guile will naught avail them, nor will they be helped.
