How it's made. The plate, the border, the field pattern, the calligraphy and the lettering print as one fused piece with a color change at each layer: the calligraphy stands 2.5 mm proud of the plate, the border 1.5 mm, the field pattern 0.6 mm — real relief, not paint. The ornament is drawn by the same program that shapes the letters: every border, field and crest is geometry the printer makes for free, so a rumi scroll costs no more than a plain ring. The Arabic is shaped properly (joined letters, right to left, every vowel mark in place) from the Amiri and Noto Kufi typefaces. A keyhole recessed into the back hangs it flush on one screw. Gift idea: a name that speaks to the person — Al-Wadud for a wedding, Ash-Shakur for a graduation, As-Sabur for a hard year.
